1st Friday: April 2018 - Recycled Plastic and Storm Drainage
Sustainable Use of Recycled High Density Polyethylene in Manufactured Products for Storm Water Drainage Applications
Presenter: Bryan Miko, Midwest Regional Engineer - ADS

Presentation Description

The demand for sustainability in engineering design, construction, and resource management is a growing trend throughout the U.S.  As local and state agencies continue to strive for sustainable long-term plans and extended service life of infrastructure, significant research continues to evolve regarding the use of recycled plastics.  In particular, this presentation will discuss plastic recycling processes and technologies, conversion and qualification of recycled plastics for infrastructure applications, and the proper design and construction of storm drainage products utilizing recycled plastics.  A thorough review of several NCHRP Research Reports, ASTM and AASHTO standards, and field case studies are central to the presentation as well.
